While making funeral arrangements for our mother, I was amazed when the funeral director told me we needed a sealed casket. Why would we need a sealed casket when the individual is going back to the earth anyway?

Most metal casket manufactured today come with a gasket material between the top and bottom portion of the casket. I am not sure why a funeral director would tell you that you needed a sealed casket.

However, many families prefer to have a casket that is sealed against the elements because this is the receptacle that holds the physical remains of their loved one. Caskets are manufactured from a variety of materials, such as bronze, copper, stainless steel, carbon steel and wood. Each one offers a level of protection of the remains.
